I've given the hotel at least a 1 star because it exists and the staff were polite, however if half a star was an option, I would have selected it. Not only did our room not get cleaned and turned over, the shower was a terrible experience and the beds were uncomfortable.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here with 6 friends. Good selection of fresh sandwiches cakes and delicious scones. A lovely added touch of a small personal cakes for the birthday girl.

We went for New Year's Eve dinner & overnight stay. It was organised so well. The food was delicious and the staff excellent

Went to Stifford Hall Hotel for a Xmas party, there was 70 in our group and all I can say is the 3 course meal was absolutely disgusting, the main course i choose the salmon was very very poor, cold, soggy pastry...not presented well at all, I had to change my meal to turkey which wasn't much better, the turkey was cold, the gravy was cold and watery, the dessert was a complete let down and you had serve yourself for tea/coffee, only 2 bar staff who clearly could not cope with amount of people waiting to get drinks, the waiting staff serving the food where very good and under pressure to get all the food out, I would not recommend this venue to anyone

If you’re a contractor with a van do not stay here. Vans get done over here on a nightly basis and the staff can’t do anything about it. It needs to have barriers installed

Spacious room. Nicely decorated. Mattress excellent. Blackout curtains great. Shame only 2 teabags in room considering we paid almost £85 for one night, seemed mean, don’t drink coffee. Bathroom nice but shower needs more pressure. Went to open living room window and window surround full of black mould. 8.50am tap on door, was woken up by this and realised tap was on my door then another tap then door shoved open, thank goodness had door chain on. I assume service wanted to come in. Considering was only staying one night and had to leave by 11am anyway, why did service want to wake me up to come in?! Need a do not disturb sign I think !! Then 9.45am banging and drilling from what sounded like in the next room! We packed and left ! Reception lady lovely. Through the night it was very quiet

Nice hotel, clean rooms, friendly staff, very smooth check-in. Usually have a great relaxed experience at this hotel and would recommend it. Unfortunately on my last stay the guest in the room next to insisted on having the tv on loud enough to be able to hear what was being said on the tv, I like this hotel because it's usually nice and quiet as I have to be up at 4.15 for work, I called at 7.45pm to ask if they could talk to the people in the next room on my behalf which they did, but the guest still insisted on having the tv loud enough for me to know what they were watching, I called reception again at 8.50pm and all they could do to offer to swap my room, which, at 8.50pm and having to be up at 4.15am meant me packing my things up and being moved and then having to try and settle down as soon as possible to sleep. I personally felt this was slightly unfair but did try to address the issue with reason first. In future I'll be making sure that my room is in a quieter part of the hotel.

Since the renovation its much better, staff on reception are great. Need more bar staff at busy times as they serve food in the bar and disappear to the kitchen. Plenty of parking.

I have attended a wedding here. This place is amazing. The location is great, the service is fantastic, the prices seemed fair, and the food was delicious. I will be spending some nights here in the future. The library alone is worth the stay.

I popped by on Tuesday for a beer and some food and was absolutely astounded by the service I was given. My beer was perfectly poured and delivered with great speed. Furthermore my food was delicious and shocked me that this fine establishment was only rated 3 stars. I was perplexed due to the mixed reviews however I was blown away with my meal I received. The chefs were magnificent with how they prepared my Sirloin Steak. It was cooked to the liking of mine and the boy who delivered it Wojiech I believe was so polite with how he presented the food towards my party. It astonished me that the young man was only 16. He has such a bright future ahead of him with such elegant manners like that. In conclusion it was a brilliant service and definitely underestimated my expectations and I would definitely return again.

This evening i dined at stifford hall hotel in thurrock on a business trip. The hotel overall is amazing with beautiful scenery, great rooms and a superb restaurant with lovely food so Thank you to the chef. All the above means nothing with out the most important thing ‘ People ‘ This evening we were served by a very polite young man named Wojchiech , he was polite , friendly and well mannered, nothing was to much trouble and you could just see he was happy to be there , the way he conducted himself was absolutely fantastic , Management team make sure you keep hold of this guy , and most importantly invest ,he's a keeper and as stated an asset to your business , The team this evening were fantastic all round. Thankyou

Perfect place to rest up before cruising from Tilbury. Leave your car and take a taxi excellent price. And the mega burger is to die for. Good clean value for money and friendly hotel.

Thank you to the reception staff of this hotel who were on duty when we arrived very late on 10th August after a long drive through France, a delayed ferry crossing and then 1 hour stationary traffic at Dartford crossing . The staff were welcoming, friendly and kindly arranged a change of number of rooms from our last minute booking . All of the rooms were clean ,comfortable and quiet.
